After the slump test is completed, what should be the next step?

After completing the slump test, it is essential to lift the mold straight up to properly evaluate the consistency of the concrete mix. This step is critical as it allows the concrete sample to freely settle, providing an accurate measurement of how much it has slumped after the mold is removed. Only after lifting the mold can the next steps, such as measuring the diameter of the slump and recording the results, be appropriately carried out.

Moving directly to measuring the diameter of the slump or recording results without lifting the mold first would lead to incorrect data, as the concrete needs to be released from the mold to assess its true consistency. Similarly, recording environmental variables such as temperature before completing the mold removal does not provide a complete understanding of the slump test process. Once the mold is lifted, subsequent measurements can accurately reflect the slump height and other characteristics of the concrete mix.
